This is the first in a series of alphanumeric displays, linked to each other serially, to form large light-up displays. Final versions will feature rope light, high power LED bars, or even neon. Most likely, it will be LED rope light.  The initial target character size is 4 x 8 feet, with about 10 characters. Yep, you saw it here first! This model is a 16 segment unit. Here’s a view of the LED bars kind of in action - There’s no dimming because I’m actually just sticking the wires in to the power source. In the actual display, these would be gently fading in and out in a random sequence, rather than blasting on and off at full power.  Also pictured is the messy desk, as it typically looks during the high heat of production.
